How to Relate to the COVID-19 Virus

News April 16, 2020

Dear Friends,

At times, it may seem like our world has been turned upside down. It is amazing how fast things have changed once o the COVID-19 virus began impacting our country, our cities and our homes. Of great concern to us are those who fall within the reach of Adventist Possibility Ministries. You are often in our thoughts and prayers especially during these days of uncertainty. I find a great deal of comfort in this Bible promise: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5). It is reassuring that we do not face these challenging days by ourselves.

It is our desire to provide resources where you can find the most helpful resources for relating to the guidelines for meeting the pandemic that has so quickly engulfed the world. The following are some resources that may be helpful to you:

For Your Reflection:

Pandemic

What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
the most sacred of times?
Cease from travel.
Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
Center down.

And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.
Promise this world your love–
for better or for worse,
in sickness and in health,
so long as we all shall live.
